ARRIVING AT VALLADOLID

Arriving at the airport of Valladolid (IATA code: VLL)

The airport of Valladolid is situated in the village of Villanubla, ten kilometres from the capital. Daily regular flights allow quick and fluent access from cities such as Barcelona, Brussels, London, Málaga, Milano, Palma de Mallorca, Paris, Sevilla or Valencia. There are two options to reach the city from the airport:

- By bus. The trip takes about 30 minutes, and costs approximately 3 €.

- By taxi. The trip costs approximately 20 €.

 

Arriving at the airport of Madrid-Barajas (IATA code: MAD)

From the international airport of Madrid-Barajas there are three possibilities to reach Valladolid: 

 

By train

Trains to Valladolid leave from ‘Madrid-Chamartin’ station. There are two types:

- Fast trains (type AVE, AVANT and ALVIA) take from 50 to 90 minutes. They cost about 35 € one way and 60 € round trip.

- Regional trains take about 2 hours and 45 minutes and cost considerably less, 15 € one way and 23 € round trip.

Through the web of Renfe you can check timetables and buy tickets online. Be sure to select as Destination ‘Valladolid Campo Grande’. Please do note that tickets are bookable from 61 days before the date of travel. If the purchase is made sufficiently in advance, ticket prices can be much lower than previously mentioned. We strongly suggest booking your ticket in advance, at least 15 days prior to travelling.

There are three possibilities to arrive to ‘Madrid-Chamartin’ train station from the airport:

- By metro: line 8 in direction to ‘Nuevos Ministerios’ until the end of the line, and then line 10 in direction to ‘Hospital Infanta Sofía’ until the stop ‘Chamartin’. The trip takes about 40 minutes, and the ticket costs 5 € (select ‘Single Underground Ticket+Supplement Airport’ on the automatic vending machines at the metro station).

- By urban train (called 'Cercanías'): from Terminal 4 (there are free shuttle buses between terminals), line C1 in direction to 'Principe Pío' until the stop ‘Chamartin’. It takes 15 minutes and costs 2.15 €. Trains leave every 30 minutes.

- By taxi: it takes about 15 minutes (it might take significantly longer during rush hours), and costs approximately 20 €.

By bus

Buses to Valladolid leave from ‘Madrid-Estación Sur’ station. The main bus company is ALSA with hourly departures to Valladolid. The trip takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes, and cots approximately 13 € each way. Through the web of the company you can check timetables and buy tickets online.

There are three options to arrive to ‘Madrid-Estación Sur’ bus station from the airport:

- By metro: line 8 in direction to ‘Nuevos Ministerios’ until the end of the line, and then line 6 (circular line) until the stop ‘Méndez Álvaro’. The trip takes about 50 minutes, and the ticket costs 5 € (select ‘Single Underground Ticket+Supplement Airport’ on the automatic vending machines at the metro station).

- By urban train (called 'Cercanías'): from Terminal 4 (there are free shuttle buses between terminals), line C1 in direction to "Principe Pío" until the stop ‘Méndez Alvaro’. It takes 25 minutes and costs 2.15 €. Trains leave every 30 minutes.

- By taxi: it takes about 20 minutes (it might take significantly longer during rush hours), and costs approximately 25 €.

By car

MOVING AROUND IN VALLADOLID

Being a medium size city, you will be able to walk to most places, but sometimes you will save time using public transport. AUVASA is the company offering public bus transportation in Valladolid. The bus service in Valladolid is excellent, vehicles are modern and clean, and bus stops have screens displaying real time information via GPS. Tickets cost 1.20 € and can be purchased on buses.
